Sucker for finding meaning in life… I’ve spent a decade of my life rolling from one place to another meeting people, sharing lives, eating and tasting cultures, listening to the beating of the drums and experience how it is to be free.
I wish to go back to those years and relive the memories of that decade before I move on to the next.
And I wish you would accompany me in my journey back in time, in the now and the future.
Just who I really am …
I am one of the many women working in the development sector trying to help out as much as I could, in any way I could.
As a disability generalist, I encountered first-hand issues that affect the people in a vulnerable situation and hear a lot of stories on how life can be challenging. When I can I try to help by sharing my knowledge and skills ensuring that when I leave, I leave behind something of me that they can go on, or inspired them to be somebody. Not only people with disabilities, but I also encountered women in general – professionals, relatives, neighbors, etc. that one way or the other affect change to the community where they live.
I always go home to my country feeling happy at the same time frustrated that I am a mere human, that I am limited but at the same time, in touch with reality that God gave me this opportunity that I may be able to touch others and share with them His graces and love.
Time has changed, globalization made the world smaller and through this, people I met years ago, I meet again online, and I am happy to see what had become of them. This inspired me to start something at home, realizing that I can continue to travel the world and be in touch with the group of young people with disabilities in my village. This young group has a lot of dreams – the same dream I had when I was just starting but because of disability, achieving them may take more time, effort and money. My participation is simple, I help them tell their story, that’s one reason I write blogs and link them to other organizations that otherwise would not know them.
The future is now open, ready for grabbing and I like to see that all women, girls with disabilities, the young, old have the opportunity to get in it and take what they can – too take back and make something of what the world has to offer.
All I can do is provide what I can, and the rest is up to them … to open some doors and let them through … and in the end, we all are the owner of our future.
The last phrase in the poem of my favorite poem “Invictus” resonates so much of what I dream for all … that we all be saying “I AM THE MASTER OF MY FATE AND CAPTAIN OF MY SOUL.”
My Vision for the Future
To live in a world where everybody is free. No more wars. No more fighting.
To live in a world where we, WOMEN are free to express ourselves, leading the world, building a happy family, raising good children and belonging in a community where the value of humanity is upheld to the highest esteem.
To be who I want to be!
sounds interesting! I am sure that will be an amazing decade to remember!

It was indeed … it’s what shaped my life now and if I can re-live all of that by posting here it would be a nice blast from the past.

My blog will showcase about the first ten years I was working as one while I am rolling in the second decade.
We might have bumped with each other before …
